About us

Since October 31, 2002, the Mercury has offered news analysis, informed opinions, humor and much more in our "salmon sheets" newspaper. Should you flip to our "Oyster Pointers" section, you will read stories on style, design, wine, food, travel and more. We concentrate on providing news and news analysis that the rest of the media does not cover or does not address in sufficient detail. We seek to give you the right information to help you in a variety of ways. In short, we trust you will grow to consider us as an old friend.

Our newspaper prints once a month, and we are pleased to offer a seasonal magazine that we are certain you will enjoy, four times a year. We print 14,000 copies, impacting roughly 50,000 affluent readers, across the Lowcountry and beyond. If you need any help with advertising information, please contact Brooke Butler at (843) 442-4626 or bbutler@charlestonmercury.com.

The editorial board of the Mercury is pleased to inform you of our interest in promoting the honorable and timeless sports of hunting and fishing as well as the general enjoyment of the great outdoors. We support the Teddy Roosevelt school of Republican stewardship of our natural resources; we are absolutely certain that the root of the word conservative is conserve.

We at the Mercury welcome opinions and suggestions of all types. We look forward to hearing from you. Email us at editor@charlestonmercury.com.
