Flat Rock’s historic Tanglewood

Flat Rock has a beautifully restored new Airbnb, Tanglewood. Located on Greenville Hwy., right in the historic district and within walking distance to Little Rainbow Row, Tanglewood is owned by Virginia Spigener, the proprietor of The Wrinkled Egg. Built in 1925 by McMillan C. King, grandson of Judge Mitchell King, one of the founding fathers of Flat Rock, Tanglewood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Outdoor adventures

This is a great time to connect with nature and go outside. The weather is beautiful and autumn is in the air. State and National Parks are open. Several WNC rivers are, too, and they’re a great source for entertainment: Enjoy the Green, Davidson, Tuckasegee, Chattooga, Nolichucky, Cullasaja, and New Rivers. Please check park and river websites for updates and practice good social distancing.

Fishing tips for September

Hannah Myers of Headwaters Outfitters says, “Fall will be here before we know it, then creeps in winter midge fishing. Take advantage of the next few warm weeks we have, continue fishing terrestrials! Beetles, ants, crickets and grasshoppers will still be out and about during the next few weeks; enjoy them while they last. The inchworm bite has still been strong here in WNC as well, keep a few in your box to use as a dry-dropper rig!”
