Charleston's West Ashley Bikeway, a paved biking and walking trail, was a former railroad that has been converted for local residents.

The trails of Laurel Hill County Park cover around five miles and include the driveway of the historic plantation.

About 25 minutes from the heart of downtown, the Stono River County Park is a recent addition to the parks scene of Charleston.
